2020 SLA Graduate Student Symposium

UMN campus

COVID - 19 UPDATE:

Due to the concerns and restrictions surrounding COVID-19 at the University of Minnesota, we are canceling the Second Language Acquisition Graduate Student Symposium, scheduled for April 24-25, 2020 at Coffman Memorial Union. We know this may be a disappointment and an inconvenience for many. However, we prioritize the health and safety of all of our community members and beyond, and we know this is the best decision for everyone involved.

We look forward to supporting the University of Iowa with their Spring 2021 Symposium- More information to come next Fall!

We thank you for all of your support,

The University of Minnesota Second Language Education Graduate Student Symposium Planning Committee

So What? Making Research Relevant for the Real World

The 2020 SLA Graduate Student Symposium hosted at the University of Minnesota!

April 24-25, 2020

In today’s multilingual world, the increasing impact of globalization, technologization and mobility on language learning and teaching foregrounds the need for second language scholarship to speak to and involve both communities and stakeholders, including learners, teachers, parents, administrators, educational organizations and business leaders. The theme of this year’s conference draws upon publicly- and community-engaged scholarship and centers around the question “Who is research for?”

This free conference is open to graduate students from all over the United States and internationally as well as advanced undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing further studies or a career in second language acquisition or education.
